Sustainable and Ethical Investing

For every 10,000 hectares sold through the investment, roughly 33,000 new local jobs will be created.

Income generated from farming jatropha is considerably higher than the Indonesian farming national average.

A scheme ran by the Indonesian government means that every farmer who participates in Waterland International’s jatropha projects for over a year becomes eligible for an ‘agri-loan’ to construct their own home, taking communities out of poverty.

Waterland uses no chemical pesticides in its operations, and the entire plantation is organic and safe to the environment.

Jobs created for farmers build communities localised to the plantation. Waterland International will help the development of this community by funding the construction of schools, health centres, and general infrastructure.

Waterland International will also engage in ‘intercropping’, planting other crops amongst the jatropha to enable farmers to earn from the sale of these crops, with the added benefit of keeping the soil healthy.
